Glorify God!

We have often heard the words quote, “to God be the glory.” Such a declaration can mean many things. We live in a culture where “to God be the glory” can be viewed as a generic form of praising the LORD. What does “to God be the glory” mean if there are certain conditions or assertions that man has decided, which are not based on the word of God? It should always be, “to God be the absolute glory.”

There are multiple reasons why the apostles said the things they said. Man will tinker with the word of God. Irrespective of the time period no one can ever change the meaning of God’s word.

2nd. Peter chapter 1 vss. 16 thru 21; the apostle Peter says: For we (meaning the other apostles) did not cunningly follow devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart; knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Keep in mind the apostles were with Jesus on numerous occasions. They fully understood that “To God be the absolute glory.” The definition of absolute means perfect, complete, total and pure. There comes a time when some self-examination becomes necessary. For those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior, there needs to be a focus on living lives indicative of the attitude to, “To God be the absolute glory!”

We cannot have an attitude where we cherry-pick the word of God to appease our own hearing or the hearing of anyone else.  To receive the full benefits of a relationship with the Godhead obedience is a must. There can be no tweaking of the word of God.

Consider the words Jesus spoke to the people in Luke chapter 6.  Keep in mind they acknowledged Him as Lord.  Vss. 46 thru 48 Jesus says; “but why do you call Me Lord Lord, and not do the things which I say? “Whomever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like. He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And the when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, *for it was founded on the rock.

John 6 vs. 63. Jesus says; “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profit nothing. The words I speak are spirit and they are life.”
